Habitat: Semi-evergreen and moist deciduous forests and sacred groves

Distribution: India incl. Andaman & Nicobar, Myanmar, Thailand, South China, Indo-China, Java, Nepal

Tribal consumers: Paniya

Parts Used: Leaf (After cooking)

Seasonal Availability: May-December

Key identification features: Large shrubs; young stem, petioles and leaf below villous with curled hairs. Leaves elliptic to obovate, with an attenuate base and acuminate apex. Flowers in terminal spikes, with greenish-yellow perianth lobes. Male flowers with 2 stamens; female flowers with a 1-loculed ovary. Fruit a globose drupe.
