Vernacular name: Thazhuthama (Malayalam)

Tribal name: Thazhuthama (Paniya, Kuruma)

Habit: Herb

Habitat: Open places, near river banks, It is a common waste land weed in plains, Moist and dry deciduous forests, Very common by the waysides in very poor soils and on stone revetments, Found mostly in the tropics.

Distribution: Pantropical, Australia

Tribal consumers: Paniya, Kuruma

Parts Used: Whole plant (After Cooking)

Seasonal Availability: Throughout the year

Key identification features: A perennial spreading herb with simple, opposite leaves. Flowers are tiny (0.5 cm. across) and are aggregated at the apex of elongated inflorescence.
